Casa la Cuesta is a house constructed in the traditional Asturian manner, and with its history spanning two centuries, is a monument to many of the events of our more recent history.
The house was originally used as a retreat by the direct descendants of the Marquis of Vistalegre and perhaps also by the Marquis himself.
Following the death of the Marquis, it was inherited by one of the tenant farmers in recognition of his services on the land.
During the civil war, because of its strategic location close to the weapons factory in Trubia, the house was used as a store for ammunition and weapons.
More recently, and just before its renovation, it served as a store for food and agricultural tools, and provided shelter for livestock.
